Quality and Functionality markers are used on releases and designs.
They directly relate to the confidence of quality or to warn users of work-in-progress projects.
Quality Status
Alpha |
The quality of the project is poor, incomplete and the industries is not confident in its regular use in production - nor its use as a judge of standard for the industries' work. |
Beta |
The quality of the project is serviceable, and could be used regularly with minor issues. We are not confident for it to be used as a judge of the standard of our work. |
Gold Master |
The quality of the project is good, and can be used in production. It may be missing documentation, or have components where the quality varies. |
Release |
The quality of the project and/or codebase is as high as our abilities can provide. |
Functionality Status
Nominal |
The core functionality does not work yet. Why would we even think this is worth releasing? |
MVP |
The 'Minimum Viable Product' functionality has been achieved. This means the project can be used for its core purpose, though expanded features are not implemented yet. |
Iterative |
The project has significant features beyond the MVP, but is not yet at the point where all desired functionality exists; active development. |
Complete |
The project's functionality is complete to what is currently planned. |
